The Educational Technologies sub-group of the GTI focuses its research activities on applying and advancing Information and Communication Technologies to make possible new teaching and learning scenarios. Current research lines include:
- the orchestration of computer-supported collaborative activities in blended learning scenarios (including virtual and physical spaces such as classrooms, museums; and the use of smart objects or devices),
- the provision of new forms of computer-assisted assessment (making use of 2D and 3D environments, mobile phones for in-situ evaluations, etc.),
- authoring tools for facilitating teachers the creation of scripts to determine the behaviour of software tools,
- visualization of information for educational purposes (e.g., planning personal competence development plans),
- educational technology interoperability specifications and standards,
- and the application of Social Web 2.0 and Semantic Web 3.0 technologies for the creation and sharing of educational resources.
